The Learning Center is very proud to be among the very few child care centers accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In the US today, only 8% of all child care centers have succeeded in obtaining this accreditation. But what does it mean to you? What will your child get at a NAEYC accredited site that he or she won't get anywhere else? "NAEYC accredited programs are committed to providing high-quality educational services to young children and their families. While the accreditation process examines all aspects of a program- including health and safety, teacher qualifications, and administration- the focus is on the quality of interactions between teachers and children and the nature of the child's experience"-NAEYC brochure, 2003In short, you will be enrolling your child at a center that has met a higher standard, a place where teachers are engaging and nurturing, toys and games are enriching, and the overall atmosphere is one of caring, concern, and lots of fun! Please take a moment to view our photo galleries (found at left). Through these pictures, we're sure you'll get an idea of the fun, pleasant, and educational atmosphere we provide! They also remind us of how much joy children can bring to everyone. We'd like to take a minute to share our favorite goosebumps with you! When I was getting ready to leave the classroom, I was asked by a 2 ½ year old where I was going. I replied, “To the bathroom, I’ll be right back.” When I returned she said “Did you go potty, Kathy?” I said, “Yes.” She said “Alright, give me 5!” as she held her hand up. Then she said “good job, Kathy!” -Kathy R., Toddler Room A school age child said to me “Miss Nancy I think you are nice but your voice isn’t.” -Nancy, School-Age Classroom One child saw another child working with a calculator and said, “Wow, you’re great at technology.” -Tina, K-Readiness Room
